The Mission
In 2009, Jim and Sue Spierings started the Spierings Cancer Foundation. Jim won his battle with throat cancer and wanted to give back to the same community that supported him while going through treatment. The Spierings Cancer Foundation helps support families affected by cancer, enhances medical care for cancer patients in the fox cities, and funds cancer research in Wisconsin.
This local foundation helps over a hundred families in the area by assisting with medical bills, health insurance premiums and more. No matter what type of cancer, the Spierings Cancer Foundation is here to assist those affected.
They aid multiple hospitals, such as St. Elizabeth’s, with purchasing equipment, anti-nausea medication and massage therapy for patients fighting cancer. Their funds have also helped establish a Genetic Research/Counseling service at Affinity Health System. All of this is made possible by the proceeds of their annual fundraiser, Rock Cancer.
