Rob Peterson
Vice Chair
I joined the Spierings Cancer Foundation for two reasons. First, to play a part in helping make things a bit easier for those battling cancer, as the Foundation has for many of my family members and friends. Second, to help the Spierings family grow the foundation and live our mission to provide financial support for families affected by cancer, enhance medical care for cancer patients in the Fox Cities, and fund cancer research in Wisconsin. There is always more we can do, and I’m incredibly proud to be a small part of that with many fantastic people.
Dave Vanden Heuval
Treasurer
Like so many others I've lost family members to cancer, which makes working with the Spierings Cancer Foundation personally rewarding. SCF is the kind of caring, grass roots organization that makes the Fox Valley a special place to live. It's a privilege to be able to serve on board.
Heather Calnin
Secretary
I decided to join the Spierings Cancer Foundation because helping others has always been important to me, especially since cancer has touched the lives of many of my family and friends. The courage and resilience shown by my loved ones in their battles against cancer inspired me to contribute more meaningfully to the fight against this disease. Witnessing the passion and dedication of Jim and Sue Spierings, and seeing how their efforts have brought hope and support to so many, I knew this was an organization I wanted to be a part of. It's more than just volunteering; it's about being part of a community that stands together, fights together, and supports each other through some of life's toughest challenges. I am honored to contribute to the Foundation's mission, striving to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer, fueled by the same spirit of compassion and determination that the founders and volunteers embody.

I lost my mom to cancer 5 years ago so I wanted to be a part of the cause to help families dealing with cancer. I saw my mom get wonderful care and want others to have the piece of mind to not worry about the financial part as they are dealing with so many other things. I have attended and volunteered at Rock Cancer for several years and love how our small community comes together to support such a great cause.

I joined the Spierings Cancer Foundation based upon my own journey and battle with cancer. I received a tremendous amount of community support, including from the Spierings Cancer Foundation. I vowed that once my treatment concluded, I would do everything in my power to aid those going forward. For me, joining the Board of Directors was an easy decision to make. I feel fortunate to work with the team in order to serve others and provide resources going through their own journey.
Craig Spierings
Board Member
I have been involved with The Spierings Cancer Foundation and planning Rock Cancer from the very beginning. I have always been passionate about giving back to the community that helped my family as my dad, Jim Spierings, battled cancer. Over the years, I have watched the foundation grow, and I now enjoy playing a role in the foundation as a member of the board of directors. Through this role, I strive to bring guidance to the Spierings Cancer Foundation in order to help it continue to grow as the foundation works to help larger amounts of people affected by cancer, enhance cancer treatments, and raise funds for cancer research throughout the state of Wisconsin.
STAFF
Katie Dougherty
Executive Director
I am honored and thrilled to be serving in the role of Executive Director of the Spierings Cancer Foundation. Throughout my life, I’ve always been focused on serving others and supporting the community. I believe this role and the mission of the Spierings Cancer Foundation connect with my own personal values. Like many, my family has been impacted by cancer. I lost two grandparents to cancer. It was during this time that I experienced the impact Spierings Cancer Foundation has on individuals and families going through cancer. I vividly remember being a part of the Spierings Cancer Foundation prayer service with my grandpa and feeling the strong presence and community surrounding our family during this time. I enjoy building relationships in the community that allow us to support more families affected by cancer - I know just how powerful it can be.
We invite you to support our efforts.
